A 1st Birthday Cake Smash
When Mariela reached out to me about her daughter’s 1st birthday cake smash, she told me that her daughter Ally was super smiley and would likely do great for her photos. She couldn’t have been more spot on, as Ally devoured her cake and gave us the absolutely best smiles!
The only time Ally cried was when she pushed her cake stand over and it smashed on the ground… scroll down to see the most adorably sad face as she looked on at her tipped over cake 😉
Floral Hoops With PalmLeaves
We talked through a few ideas and I sent her some sample photos to see what she liked best and we landed on these adorable matte gold hoops with palm leaves and large pink peonies and various other blooms. Mariela knew she wanted a naked vanilla buttercream cake, which I always order from Something Blue Bakery on Main Street in Lafayette because it’s absolutely the best around. Seriously once you try this amazing cake with a buttery but not too sweet icing, you will want to eat the smashed cake crumbs sticking to the backdrop after the session is all done!
After we designed the cake smash setup, Mariela chose Ally’s adorable white dress from Target for her milestone photos and her lace boho romper from Amazon. I just love simple outfits in muted colors with texture and this little romper couldn’t have been more perfect.
Milestone Photos
You always want a few photos with these adorably toothy grins before the frosting starts flying, so we start with milestone photos and I have various backdrops from weathered wood and white wood to solid colors such as cream and light gray. Then we move to family photos and save the best for last- the smash!
The Smash
Mariela said because of Covid-19, they weren’t able to have a big 1st birthday party for Ally. A cake smash session was an incredibly fun and memorable way to celebrate this precious time with little Ally’s first birthday!
Ally eyed her cake for a few seconds or so before quickly digging in! She was pretty intent on just eating it for a while but then you noticed the moment that the sugar began to pulse through her veins and she started getting so silly and giving us the biggest toothy grins!
The photos speak for themselves, from beginning to end so go ahead… scroll through and enjoy and I bet you won’t be able to resist smiling back!
