You already know this season goes fast. Everyone keeps telling you, and as much as you want to roll your eyes — they're right. The curled-up little fingers. The way they fit perfectly in the crook of your arm. The quiet weight of them finally, finally here.
Newborn photos aren't just pretty pictures. They're proof that this happened. That this tiny, brand-new person existed in this exact way, at this exact moment in your family's story.
I'm Kelly, a Greensboro newborn photographer based at Revolution Mill, and I'd love to document this for you — beautifully, calmly, and in a way that actually feels like YOUR family.
This Is the Beginning of Everything.
Let's Capture it Beautifully.
What a Newborn Session Looks Like
Relaxed, baby-led, and focused on real connection — not perfect poses.
Most of my Greensboro newborn photography clients book their session while they're still expecting — usually in the second trimester. That's not just a logistics thing. It's because the newborn window is so short.
Baby is ideal to photograph between 5 and 14 days old. After that, the curled-up sleepy-newborn phase gives way fast. By the time life has settled down enough to think about booking, the best window for photos has often already passed.
When you book early, I hold a spot on the calendar right around your due date. Then, when baby arrives (early, late, or right on time), we'll connect and confirm the exact day and time that works best.
No scrambling. No stress. Just one less thing to figure out in those first hazy, beautiful days

"Loved everything about our experience... "
We absolutely loved everything about our experience with Kelly! She was clear and informative prior to our shoot, patient and professional during the shoot, and the end result was incredible. We continue to get compliments on the photos of our son, and will treasure them forever. Kelly is the best!
- Robert T.
"No way they could have been better... "
Our photos couldn't have turned out better, I mean there is no way they could have been better! She made me feel comfortable and beautiful at a time in life when my body felt anything but. She helped wrangle a chaotic and over tired toddler like a pro and gave us photos what we will cherish forever. I am proud to display her photos in our home and can't wait to work with her again!
- Janet R.
"I don't know how she does it!... "
Kelly is such an amazing photographer. I am in love with her style...She is the best newborn photographer I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how she does it, but I am in awe every time she posts a new session. I’m so glad she could capture our family’s big moments. She goes out of her way to make you feel comfortable and to get keepsake photos. My family loves working with Kelly!
- Kate C.
"We are so happy we found Kelly!"
We have had two sessions with Kelly this year and have been so pleased! She has an eye for the perfect shot and has an impeccable ability to capture the most beautiful lighting. Our second session was a newborn session and she was so wonderful with us and our little guy. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a very skilled, professional photographer. We are so happy we found Kelly!

What questions do you have?
Don't see your question?
Q: What if my newborn won't sleep?
A: It happens! We will adjust! We can focus on lifestyle photos and awake moments, and then try to swaddle and get baby to sleep again. If baby absolutely refuses to sleep, we can always reschedule within a few days (no extra charge) to get the posed photos.
Q: How long does a newborn session take?
A: Plan for about 3hours, sometimes more. Baby sets the pace — if they need to eat, we pause. If they need a diaper change, we pause. There's no clock to beat and I never rush. Some sessions fly, others take their time. Either way, we get the shots.
Q: Are newborn photography poses safe?
A: Your baby's safety is everything. I only use poses baby is comfortable with, and I never push past what feels safe — period. Any composite poses (where two images are merged in editing) are always done with a spotter present.
Q: When is the best time for newborn photos?
A: Between 5 and 10 days old is the sweet spot. Those curled-up sleepy poses everyone loves? Baby stops tolerating them pretty quickly after 2 weeks. Newborn ache and colic can also kick in after the first couple of weeks — so the earlier, the better.
Q: What should we wear to a newborn session?
A: Soft, simple neutrals — creams, warm whites, muted tones. Nothing too matchy, nothing too busy. I'll walk you through everything on our planning call, and you're welcome to borrow from my client closet so you don't have to shop at all. (There's even a whole blog post about it here.)
Q: Do you offer in-home newborn sessions?
A: Yes, and honestly they're some of my favorites. There's something special about photographing baby in the nursery you spent months putting together. We'll use your natural light and the spaces that actually mean something to your family. Studio sessions at Revolution Mill are available too — we'll figure out which feels right for you.
Q: When should I book a newborn photographer?
A: Earlier than you think! Most families book during their second trimester while I still have availability around their due date. I'll hold your spot and we'll confirm the exact timing once baby arrives — no scrambling in those first hazy days.
If you're expecting a baby in the Greensboro area, I'd love to hold your spot on the calendar. Reach out and I'll get back to you within 24 hours — we can talk through timing, your vision, and whether a maternity session might be the perfect way to start.
This season is short. Let's make sure you remember it.
