One my favorite things about taking senior photos is the artistic journey of uncovering and capturing the distinct personality of each senior. My goal is that their senior portraits authentically represent who they are. While I do get to know them a bit before our session, the real magic unfolds once my camera comes out. I work with all types of seniors and thrive on the challenge of drawing out their their true personality during the session. Some seniors may need a little time to ease into the process and get comfortable with the creative process; but, then there are seniors like Alexis – those who show up with a clear sense of self, an unwavering confidence, and a natural knack for posing. She’s a prime example of this as you’ll quickly see! Sessions with seniors like Alexis are perfect for experimenting a bit — for trying new things and thinking outside the box a bit.
Spending time with Alexis during her senior session was an absolute delight. Her infectious smile and innate confidence made it an unforgettable experience. We laughed a lot, tried a variety of poses, explored creative angles, and experimented with diverse settings, from hidden urban backdrops to beautiful natural landscapes. We also played with different types of lighting like harsh sunlight, backlight, and shadows.
We kicked off the session in downtown Lafayette, ventured over to a picturesque wildflower field, and finished up at an old train trestle turned walking path bridge on the outskirts of town. I can’t emphasize enough how much I enjoyed this session — it was both a joy to photograph and a pleasure to edit and share these final images.
Below, you’ll find a selection of Alexis’s personal favorites. Choosing just a few from the abundance of her fantastic senior photos was not easy!
