I truly believe that a photo session is so much more than merely taking a few photos to post on social media or print for Grandma’s picture frame. During my sessions, the end goal is to have a fun, relaxing, and memorable time together as a family while capturing it on the camera. You see, if you have an enjoyable time, you will not only be making sweet memories with your loved ones, but you will actually enjoy your photos so much more because the memory you have attached to the photos is a happy one, which unconsciously effects how you view the photos.
Hikari’s birthday session was no exception and to make it even more special, her parents invited friends to come to the session and turn it into a birthday party, presents and all.
If you are thinking to book a cake smash session, I would recommend introducing your little one to cake before the session if you want your baby to get into the “smashing” part of the cake smash (i.e. frosting all over face!) Babies typically aren’t used to such sweet foods (baby food is pretty bland right!?) and a sweet and gooey cake can be quite strange and off-putting for most one year-olds if they have never had anything like it before.
